A dal mixture (also spelled dall mixture) is a product comprising a mixture of different types of pulses / lentils (for example: toor/arhar dal, chana dal, masoor dal, moong dal, urad dal) that are cleaned, split, and mixed in certain proportions.
The idea is that by combining different pulses:

you get a balance of nutrients (different pulses bring different proteins, fibres, vitamins)
you get a more interesting texture and taste when cooked
you may get uniform cooking if pulses are selected carefully and trimmed.
